I live in the North West of England which provides access to some of the most beautiful countryside, hills and mountains in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Hill and mountain walking have been a great part of my life over many years. The first mountain I ever climbed was Tryfan in The Snowdonia National Park.<\/p>\n

We scrambled up its north facing side to reach the two iconic rocks of Adam & Eve on the top. I didn’t have the courage to jump between them!<\/p>\n

I also have a great fondness for Scotland, I have climbed a good few Munroes\u00a0 in my time.\u00a0My favourite area\u00a0is Glen Coe\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Bidean nam Bian majestic range of mountains on the south side. On the north side traversing the Aonach Eagach\u00a0 high above the valley is\u00a0an unforgettable experience. <\/span><\/p>\n

I have walked extensively outside of the UK and like the Pyrenees which offers fantastic hill and\u00a0 mountain walking experiences. I\u00a0think the finest expedition I have ever done, which was\u00a0just after I retired,\u00a0was to backpack the Corsican GR20 high level route with my pal Dave. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nowadays most of my short walking is in the Peak District, Lake District ,Wales and Scotland with friends and family. Hitherto I have walked and from time to time lead walks, mostly Sundays, with the hill walking group of Altrincham and District Rambling Club<\/a>. but nowadays my walking days with them are very limited.<\/p>\n

It is the oldest Walking Club in the area with a membership of ca. 300. It cater for all types of walkers – hill walkers, ramblers and amblers. I wrote the Club’s first website in hard coding about sixteen years ago and latterly with developing a new Club website to run within WordPress .
